BoxFinder Privacy Policy

BoxFinder helps you organize boxes, contents, storage locations, photos, and notes. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app uses and how it is stored.

Information you enter

The app lets you enter information such as:

How information is stored

BoxFinder is local-only by default. If you use the app without turning on sharing, your project and box data is stored in the app storage on your device.

If you turn on sharing, project and box data for that shared project is stored in the app owner's Firebase/Firestore database so that invited people can view and edit the same project from more than one device.

Optional sharing

Sharing is optional. It is intended for people who want to work on the same moving list from more than one device.

When sharing is enabled, the app creates an invite link and share code for the project. Anyone with that invite link or share code may be able to view and edit the shared project. Only share invite links or codes with people you trust.

The app uses anonymous Firebase sign-in for sharing. This does not create a visible account or require a password, but Firebase may create a technical anonymous user identifier so shared access can work.

Photos

If you add photos to boxes, those photos are used to help you identify box contents. Photos are compressed before saving.

If the project is local-only, photos remain in the app storage on your device. If sharing is enabled for the project, photos saved inside shared box data may also be stored in Firebase/Firestore as part of that shared project.

Analytics and advertising

BoxFinder does not use advertising tracking.

BoxFinder does not include analytics tracking in the current app design.

Third-party services

The app uses Firebase/Firestore and Firebase Anonymous Authentication if you turn on sharing. Firebase is provided by Google.

The app may load Firebase software components needed for sharing.

Data export and deletion

You can export your project data from the app as a backup file.

You can delete boxes and projects inside the app. You can also remove the app from your device to remove locally stored app data from that device.

If you used optional sharing, deleting local app data may not delete data already stored in Firebase/Firestore. For deletion questions about shared data, contact boxfinderadmin@gmail.com.

Children

BoxFinder is a general productivity tool and is not directed at children.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when the app changes. The updated version will be published with a new “Last updated” date.
